About Me

Hello, my name is Monique Bryant and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Detroit Community School District Board. I have been a dedicated parent in the Detroit Public Schools Community District since 2016.  My experience in the district includes serving as the Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men PTA President from 2017-2019 and serving as a Cass Tech School Advisory Council Community Partner from 2018-2020. My ability to establish partnerships, secure funding, and improve policies demonstrates my capability to drive positive change in the school district.

My passion for making a tangible difference in our educational system has driven me to focus on key issues that I believe are critical for the advancement of our district.  I firmly believe in the power of transparency and accountability. Our school board members should be accountable to our community, which is why I support making annual visits and actively engaging with stakeholders at all schools in the district. This will ensure that our leaders are not only visible but also responsive to the needs and concerns of our students, parents, and educators.  I advocate for the school district to provide increased training opportunities for parents and the community.  Understanding how schools are funded is crucial for meaningful participation in budget decisions.  By demystifying the funding processes from state, federal, and philanthropic sources, we can empower our community to take an active role in shaping our schools' financial priorities.

Inclusivity in decision-making processes is essential for a truly representative school district. I am committed to enhancing opportunities and recognition in public meetings to ensure every voice is heard, particularly those of parents with special needs students. Additionally, I aim to ensure that every school in the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) has a fully functional Parent Teacher Association (PTA/PTSA) and School Advisory Council (SAC).

Beyond my professional life, I find joy in serving others through community service. This personal passion reflects my dedication to the betterment of our community and underscores my commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of our students and their families.  I am ready to bring my knowledge, experience, and unwavering commitment to the Detroit Community School District Board. Together, we can build a more transparent, accountable, and inclusive educational environment for all.
